About the Celebrant Foundation & Institute
As a profession, celebrancy is still in its infancy. The movement began in Australia more than 40 years ago and spread to New Zealand. Celebrancy arrived in the United States about 15 years ago. Founded in 2001, the Celebrant Foundation & Institute (CF&I) is an educational nonprofit headquartered in Montclair, NJ, dedicated to educating and certifying personalized ceremony professionals called Life-Cycle Celebrants®.
Life-Cycle Celebrants® are masterfully trained in the art of ritual and ceremony, ceremonial writing, public speaking and presentation. Completing the foundational 7-month college-level training, Celebrants are skilled in the creation and performance of customized ceremonies that reflect the needs, beliefs and values of their clients.
